Meet Norwood —
A Loyal Protector good with other pets and kids.

A 2-year-old well behaved Shepherd/ Boxer mix who thrives with structure. Protective of his people and property, he makes an excellent guardian. Norwood is our second rescue up for adoption. He has been with us since Thanksgiving and we have done tremendous amounts of behavioral training with him, mostly surrounding digressional issues and new schedules to keep him on track. Due to a history as a stray, he requires a specific home environment and would not be good for apartment living. Norwood is now beginning his leash training and social exposure therapies. Free training included.

Ideal Owner

Shepherd Experience required. Norwood would excel in a family environment, especially with teens as he would love to be needed by someone. 1 acre or more. Outside access and stable potty routines. Owner surrender, looking for a forever home with a great owner who can be constant for him.

Training-Private Session

1 Private Session Included for home introductions and or a walk in the neighborhood, whichever is best suited. Trainer available by phone at no additional charge to new adopter.

Note: "Level Yellow" indicates Norwood needs a confident leader to help him get acclimated with new situations. He is happily protective with his people and therefore requires management around new people until introduced. Norwood has now to both indoor and outdoor puppy though rigorous training! Couldn't be happier about it. He has never bitten and is not aggressive, just noisy.

About Norwood

Norwood has undergone immense rehabilitation. He spent 6 months as a stray and a year in a home without house-training structure. While he no longer soils the home with solids, he is not fully house-broken regarding urination. He is best suited for an outdoor lifestyle on land or an indoor home willing to use washable diapers and strict management.

Why Adoption Includes Training

Because Norwood is a strong, protective dog, we include 1 private training session prior to adoption. if you live out of range we can discuss. We want to ensure you have the tools to handle his boxer playfulness and shepherd protective nature effectively.
